Heavy Energy
To think that people used to have to carry everything in its raw form. Objects are so bulky, it would have taken a lot of physical space to move all of that. That's what makes our PDAs very important to us. Our PDAs have technology built into them to convert regular objects into a type of heavy energy that can be stored on the device. The reason I call it heavy energy is because the weight of the object isn't lost, the object is converted into energy but the PDA gets heavier from holding this energy. This same energy is also very difficult to move over long distances, it takes a huge amount of power to move it, which is why we must go back to storage instead of just transporting it. I really wouldn't care to have a heavy power pack on my back just to transport things I find back to the main storage grid. Luckily they do have sufficient power to move the items around from one storage center to another, so it doesn't matter which machine you store it at, it will still be accessible from all of them. It is just too bad we don't quite have the power to transmit from one planet to another, it would just cost too much to do. The only real limitation to this technology is in living things, it is unable to store a living thing with a certain level of intelligence, I've heard of bad things happening in the past when they were developing the technology, so bad in fact that they had to spend quite some time making it impossible for these devices to scan people into them. Now, these devices are quite secure, there have been no reports of people being able to hack into them and steal your possessions under normal circumstances. There are, however, abnormal circumstances that change this. There are a few locations on the planet where there is a dangerous level of radiation. In these locations the normal monitoring that goes on doesn't work. They actually cannot see what happens here and as such are unable to police the people, it is lawless land. In these areas the devices aren't as secure and so people have reprogrammed their device to take advantage of it teleporting a person back to a safe location, during this transportation they are able to access a few parts of the device and utilize the power the radioactive area has to pull some of the heavy data from your device to theirs, essentially stealing what you worked so hard to get. I avoid these areas as much as possible, but there are good things to be found there. In fact, some of the things to find in these areas are very important to us, without them our healing technologies wouldn't work as well as they do. But that's a whole different level of thought than I am ready for right now, for now just thinking about how much easier it is to move our possessions around in this day and age is enough for me.

Welcome Home
Home, it's familiar and inviting. Oddly, that's what I feel as I explore and mine. Even sleeping in different locations each night after a long mining run feels good to me. I just like being out there and free of the confines of civilization. Occasionally you see others out there as well running around and looking for something good. Often you can see on their faces that this is how they enjoy living as well. Nothing beats the joy I find in living my life in my own way out in this beautiful world. I can't imagine living a life somewhere else, not just because I can't remember it, but because this seems so familiar and right to me. It's times like these, when I'm free to keep going as far as I want, where I forget my desires to know who I once was and just be content with who I am now. We all have to head in at some point, but for now, while things are going well, I want to take this in and enjoy it to its fullest. This is, indeed, a welcome home to me.

Mining Amps
Mining amplifiers are definitely a nice thing to have at times. To understand how they work one must first understand how finders work. Finders work by using vibrations created by bombs and probes to find resources hidden under ground. These vibrations are unique for each resource, so by analyzing these vibrations a person is able to figure out what they just found and then by measuring the amount of vibration they can tell how much of it they found. This is a tricky business and sometimes it's hard to tell exactly what you have. The only problem with finders is that they were designed to only find one deposit of a resource at a time. This is where amplifiers come in. When you put an amp on your finder you enable the finder to not only locate a deposit but to also locate similar vibrations in the search area. What this essecially does is takes all similar resources in an area and clumps them together as one giant find. This saves us from having to rebomb or reprobe an area to ensure that all deposits are found. This is definitely a brilliant thing, though amplifiers can be a little tricky to work, you have to be very familiar with a finder to use an amp with it, there's a lot of signals to annalyze in a short time so you have to be quick, and the bigger the amp the more signals you can detect. The other unfortunate thing about amplifiers is that they are very fragile and as such cannot be repaired, so we are always having to buy new ones. This is a real hinderance to their constant use and unless I am really having some luck finding resources then the amplifiers are definitely too pricey for my budget most of the time. Still, it is fun to think about how these devices work and make life a bit easier for the miner. Now if only they'd design a new series of finders that have the amplification abilities built in.

Immortality
It is a very strange thought, strange because it doesn't seem true. To be immortal means we have no fear of death. Because of our advances in technology we essentially achieved it, although there are exceptions, there always are. Fairly recently I read an article where it was announced that the revival process did not work on a particular scientist. They speculate that something interfered with the process, possibly something the professor had been working on. This reality brings a little bit of fear, but it is an isolated case and as such most of us don't even think about it. The standard PDA they issue to us is the key to this whole process working, it is programmed to teleport our lifeless body back to the nearest revival terminal where we are brought back from death, no loss of memories or abilities, in fact, you can even remember something you learned upon your death. There have been many times I thought, as my life slipped away, "Crap, if I had only moved in such-and-such a way I would have made it." I remember this, my last thought, and I am able to utilise these final thoughts to increase my ability to survive this hostile world. It really is an amazing thing, though it does bother me a bit that they were able to bring so many of us back just from a fragment of DNA and most of us are able to remember our pasts and why we were coming here. Where exactly did they get these memories from? Were we required to upload them before our trip? If this is the case, then I have to wonder where my memories are.

Making a Living
It seemed like I hadn't been with a healthy balance on my card for awhile, but the last couple of days have remedied that problem. It's days like the last few I've had that you spend each day hoping for and spend countless hours looking for. I've finally been able to do some good work and get some returns on my investments. The mining has been good and I'm setting some of this income aside for when it might stop flowing. Hopefully my mining returns aren't about to stop, I'd love to be able to save up a fair amount and maybe invest in something new. It doesn't matter though, I always do survive, despite the times. I was smart enough this go around to invest in a new Vivo T10 so that I can do a few better healing jobs, however I probably will stick with the mining while it is working for me. Anyway, enough of this writing, there's areas to explore and claims to dig up!
